The series is over…

June 17, 2008

Congrats to the Celtics

I’ll say it, but I don’t have to mean it!

recreation down under

June 17, 2008

Luxury sportswear label Recreation takes a page from Stella McCartney by producing a line of dance, yoga, leisure, and gym wear for the Australian market.

Designer Hannah McNicol, who studied at L’Accadademia School of Design in Italy before doing work under Ennio Capasa of Costume National, used contrasting color paletes in various fabrics to produce pieces like an all-in-one yoga jumpsuit, swimwear, and this tulle/cotton tennis dress shown above. (It’d look so good on Maria Kirilenko!)

even without sound…

June 17, 2008

I’m slumming it these days — I have a laptop with a broken hinge (read: the screen can’t stay up on its own) and no sound card (YouTube just isn’t the same…) — yet I’ve managed to enjoy Janko Tipsarevic‘s vlog at The Artois Championships at the Queen’s Club in London.

The Serbian shows off his bedhead while getting some physical therapy done for his forearm.

And he tries to book a practice court in this video. What is it with tennis players and cartoon tees? (Of course a heady man like Janko would enjoy Family Guy. I love him even more!)

Scoreline: He lost to compatriot and eventual finalist Nole Djokovic in the third round — 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

flashback: kateryna’s turn to show off k-swiss

June 17, 2008

Withdrawals and upsets left this year’s Birmingham tourney with four unlikely semifinalists: Yanina Wickmayer beat Bethanie Mattek 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) while 12th seed Kateryna Bondarenko took out Marina Erakovic 6-3 6-2.

Has the New Zealander secured the Beijing Olympics wildcard that she’s been jonesing for?

The “other” Bondarenko (the Veronica to Alona‘s Betty) wore a very Mattekian assymetrical top from K-Swiss.

I don’t think I ever showed you my picks from their premiere collection; here it is below:

Fiery Red Lightweight Jacket, $110; Black Color Block Jacket, $130.

Classic Slim Polo, $80. I really like the perma-popped collar on this one.
