We here at TSF are all smiles that Maria Sharapova and Nike are back at it with a well-calculated outfit for the Russian (when in Paris…). They went with a layered dress in varying textures of fabric and in two hues of blue. The tiers fall nicely on Maria’s frame, looking like like enormous fish scales. Unfortunately, it didn’t look so good when she moved around. What do you think of this dress? Tell us!
Scoreline: In this, her first major since Wimbledon of 2008, Maria beat Belarusian Anastasiya Yakimova 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 and next faces 11th seed Nadia Petrova.
Round it out: Maria walked onto the court with a cropped jacket, a large white tote, and of course her aquamarine and diamond drop earrings — in 18 karats of white gold — from Tiffany. (Buy: Drop Earrings; $2,100; Tiffany.com.) What, you say? You want to see the bag and jacket? Feast your eyes on a few pictures — all after the cut…

Love the dress and matching visor. Can’t live without a visor. Why don’t they have more variety?

I would wear the dress to a party and not a match. I love her earrings too!!

I absolutley do not like this dress, it looks awkward when she moves and the drape in the front could have been worked on to make it look and flow better. It looks like Shrieka has a pattern for RG for the past 3 yrs : Blue

it seems a bit frilly and fussy to me. maria ‘s body seems better-suited to slimmer and more classic silhouettes.

I love the colours, but perhaps a bit poofy? One of her nicer dresses; i didn’t particularly like her Wimbledon ones, apart from the one from 2006. Another french open dress was very nice; i cant remember from which year but it was turquoise/teal in colour with a dark netting over it. I have been searching for it everywhere the last few months, but to no avail… 😦
Back to the dress – Very pretty, but I agree with ‘jean’ in that i think a slimmer dress would suit her more.
I can’t wait till it comes out in stores!!!

the dress is not the best shape for her body it makes her butt look huge and it looks like someone bought the fabric at Micheals and sewed it in their craft room-I LOVED LAST YEARS DRESS!!! It was so elegant. I wish Maria would play in the outfits before she came on court to make sure they still look elegant when she is playing.
ps Vicky the dress you are talking about is from the 2008 Roland Garros-

Actually tennishead, Vicky is talking about the 2007 French Open dress. Because last years 2008 was when Sharapova wore the navy blue and 07 was when she wore the Turquiose with the drop waist & black netting that made it look dark blue. And 06 she wore the Pink TuTu. I really wish she’d make another dress like the pink one but in blue!!

Granted, the dress doesn’t look so good in the still shots you posted of Maria in action, but in real life it looked fabulous!!!!!
