testy tanlines

Ramirez-Hidalgo

Spaniard Rubin Ramirez-Hidalgo was sleeving it like it was 2001 and he was Martina Hingis today at the BCR Open in Romania. Or maybe he was just sporting that right bicep?

In any case, we’re not quite sure how Ramirez-Hidalgo — or Hingis, for that matter — evens out his tan lines after a day on the court like that. You’ve gotta like the creativity though, right?

Hingis-Martina-Sleeves

Martina wore this adidas top through much of 2001, including at the Aussie and French. It never really did catch on, but we’re loving Ramirez-Hidalgo’s effort of resurrecting it. What’s next? Crazy tees saluting Santoro?! Can’t wait.

not so fast: footage from inside the u.s. open locker rooms

September 6, 2007

TSF had to up our Paxil intake after we got word that media would have no access to the U.S. Open locker rooms this year.

Thankfully, some goofsters were cool enough to film Nole Djokovic hamming it up yet again, this time folding more impersonations to his repertoire.

His latest victims are: Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo, Andy Roddick, Filippo Volandri, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova, and Roger Federer.

Nole pulls up his sleeve to do Ramirez and pulls down his shorts to get an authentic Nadal clamdigger look (left, middle). He ended the joke with a great impersonation of Roger.

And our favorite Italian, Potito Starace, laughs and eggs on the Serb throughout the video.

Sergio goes gaucho: The background behind Argentinian Sergio Roitman‘s clothing sponsor, No Brand: Roitman’s buddy runs the line, whose goal is low-key promotion of national icons such as cattle (on his bandana, above), Che Guevara, the bandone√≥n (pictured on his shirt, above), mate (the country’s favorite drink), and Carlos Gardel. Upcoming designs include Guillermo Vilas and Gabriela Sabatini.

Players like Nicolas Almagro, Filippo Volandri, Nicolas Lapentti, and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo are all fans of the line. At tournaments, Roitman usually brings extra gear to hand out as gifts.
