short balls: nole’s hat tick + the grades are in

April 5, 2007

Nole’s hat habit: Here’s an article about Novak Djokovic fussing with his cap at the Key Biscayne final. Not a bad on-court tick, considering all the crotch-adjusting and butt-picking that goes on out there. (via CBS Sportsline)

For spring, a stellar Stella: Dan at No Man’s Land has readers putting Stella McCartney’s latest adidas gear to the test. The verdict: pricey, stylish, practical.

The grades are in: Matthew Cronin rates the ladies for the first quarter of 2007. He set the curve pretty high — no one got above an A-minus — reflecting the abundance of absences due to injuries (Sharapova, Henin, Mauresmo) and personal matters (divorce for Henin and an engagement for Clijsters). Everyone was distracted by something. The dust settled at Indian Wells and Key Biscayne, though, and the players should continue to do well and peak in time for this summer’s French Open.

The editors at Vogue joined the relaunched Tennis Week and the Sony Ericsson Open in paving tennis’ collision course with fashion and style. They were all about it for the April 2007 issue.

Kudos to him for promoting the sport. Clearly passionate about carting around his Louis Vitton tennis gear. Look at that smile.

Then, they published a gorgeous four-photo spread with Maria Sharapova, shot on location at Equator Books in Venice, CA (just down the street from one of my favorite Southern California weeknight watering holes, Roosterfish).
