It’s so fun to track the on-court style of Venus Williams. She started off the year in mourning (the loss of early 2007 due to a nagging wrist injury, that is), wearing all black (with gold accents) at the French, followed by her short shorts (and more gold, of course) at Wimbledon, and the unveiling of many EleVen looks during the U.S. Open.
Though a few pieces are still emerging, the dust has pretty much settled.
And she returned her focus to mini-totes at last week’s AIG Japan Open, carrying a small black bowler after the championship match against Virginie Razzano. (JFTR, we love ourselves some handbags, but these days we’re back on the oversized clutch bandwagon.)
Razzano beat the top seed title 4-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4, which capped a second week of great play from both players. Venus took the Korea Open title last week at the same time that Virginie won the Guangzhou International Women’s Open.
