More flashbacks to the men at the 2007 Australian Open…
Hottie Carlos Moya (in a black sleeveless Nike tank) crashed out of the first round to fellow Nike stud James Blake. Not sure if they were wearing the same shirt for the match. Scoreline: 6-7 (8), 2-6, 4-6. Moya’s had a seesaw 2007, with first round losses sprinkled amongst Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances and a title at the Croatia Open.
Janko Tipsarevic‘s Fila kit and nasal strips (plus piercings, tattoos, blah blah blah) couldn’t get him past the first round, retiring in his match against David Nalbandian in the fifth set due to heat exhaustion. (photos by ema_ from MTF)
Djokovic, Murray, Nalbandian, and Hewitt — all after the cut!
Novak Djokovic stayed in his adidas clothes long enough to notch a few wins.
Scot (and Fred Perry-clad) Andy Murray, the tourney’s 15th seed, went down to Rafa Nadal in this five-set, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-4, 3-6, 1-6 marathon.
On the right, playing with a koala.
Argentine Nalbandian wore his Yonex kit (in country colors, of course). He lost to 12th seed Tommy Haas in the fourth round 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, 3-6.
And fellow Yonex athlete (and local) Lleyton Hewitt crashed out in the third round to the hard-hitting Chilean Fernando Gonzalez. But Lleyton bounced back by taking the Tennis Channel Open title a month later.
