…about this drop-to-the-knees thing being Federer-esque (it’s true), we’ll cut Nikolay Davydenko some slack. This is a very appropriate response from the Russian after he beat Paul-Henri Mathieu 7-5, 7-6 (9) to win this week’s Kremlin Cup. He’s had a so-so 2007 so far (this is his first title of the year), plus he’s mired in this match-fixing mess that isn’t quite ready to go away just yet.
Congrats, Kolya. But if you keep winning titles, you should get a different post-victory schtick. For now, we won’t mind.
