not for sale: maria’s couture jacket

TSF just got confirmation from Nike that Maria Sharapova‘s Dark Obsidian jacket is part of the special on-court collection produced for the soon-to-be World No. 2. (Read: it’s not available to us plebes.)

Throw ’em a bone: But of course there’s a mass-market version inspired by this one-off. The Match Point Jacket can be found at

Sound bite: Asked to comment about losing the No. 1 ranking a mere week after it was handed to her by Justine Henin, Maria said, “boo hoo” — I love it!)

Thanks for confirmation on that great windbreaker. I was curious. I would wear that windbreaker on the street, as a spring coat! Oh, well. Thanks for locating another option. And thanks for all you do!

yeah I was really hoping they’d make that available. but hey — that’s how you keep the buzz going, right? If all of us could get our hands on the jacket, it wouldn’t be so special anymore…

    That jacket is hideous!

Barack Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” provides a appealing title. It has a taste of bravery mixed with full confidence. You’ll find nothing Pollyanna about that. I will most likely not support every little thing he tells, but he’s our president, and then for me, he creates trust. Which can do more for any region than any amount of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we’ve had them. I’m from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I used to be a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity is not over. I have come across the quips of those who don’t believe Obama is able to do it. But step back a moment. Would anyone have all of us fail simply to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they did not vote? Keeping our priorities straight, let’s work together with our president and build our future.
