The Serbian team of Nenad Zimonjic, Janko Tipsarevic, Viktor Troicki, and Arsenije Zlatanovic defeated the German team of Nicolas Kiefer, Mischa Zverev, Rainer Schuettler, and Philipp Kohlschreiber to win their first Tennis World Team Cup title, proving to the world that there is a strong tennis presence in Serbia — even without Novak Djokovic.

serena hobbles, with baubles, to the french

Serena Williams is coming into the 2009 French Open as the second seed after compiling a lackluster spring record. She made it to the finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami but fell to Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 6-1. She followed that up with opening round exits in Andalucia (Klara Zakopalova), Roma (Patty Schnyder), and Madrid (retired against Schiavone).

Looking ahead: In order for Serena to claim another French, she’ll have to face Zakopalova again. Will she fare better than their last meeting?

Meanwhile, here are some pictures of Serena’s Nike kit, which includes items from the Spring Slam Group. And of course there are the accessories: orange fingernails in Miami, a brown handbag (trimmed with a scarf, natch) in Madrid, and lots and lots o’ bling. See them all after the cut…
