wta headshots: part 1

If you’ve ever paid a visit to the WTA Tour’s web site, you were sure to notice the vast array of headshots used in player profiles. Unlike the theatre world, the business world or even the APT’s site – where there’s a standard for what a headshot might look like – the WTA seems to have allowed the players to submit any picture they choose. ANY PICTURE! So, TSF introduces the WTA Headshots series. Here we’ll present headshots and predict where these pictures might have shown up otherwise, giving bios and pseudo news reports solely based on the images themselves… your guesses are welcome, too!

Picture 1Dinara Safina | Dinara has been selected Miss Pensacola Valley Mall 2009 by the Beautification Realization Team after a dazzling performance on the mall’s catwalk last weekend. Dressed in a ’70s-inspired purple blouse with floral pattern criss-crossing her top, Dinara danced to “Unwritten”, the Natasha Bedingfield hit for the talent portion. Her subtle purple eye shadow and well-put-together, straightened hair was a hit with Beautification Team member Cindy Sorwell. “I thought Dinara brought a presence to the pageant that no other girl had,” Sowell said. “And that smile… THAT SMILE! Simply sensational.” Local pageant officials are looking forward to Dinara’s appearance in the Greater Peach County’s Beauty Bonanza in August.

Picture 1Michelle Larcher de Brito
Today, Electronic Arts announced that tennis star Michelle Larcher de Brito will be the face of the company’s new game The Sims 4: Escape to Portugal. Along with the introduction of the game, the company announced a new imaging system in which the likeness of real people can be seen on Simn characters. Michelle is the first person to test the new technology, and when the youngster tried out the game in a public square in Lisbon last weekend, she was squealing with delight: “That looks sooooooooo much like me!” the grunter exclaimed. SimMichelle seemed to be having trouble in her love life, however, when her new boyfriend tipped over her garbage can after an unintelligible verbal disagreement. Guess things aren’t all that peachy in the virtual suburban life, either.

Picture 2Dominika Cibulkova
Dominika is the new face of http://www.iweartoomanyaccessories.net, a site launched by fashionista Lauren Conrad. “We’re confident that Dominika wears too many accessories, so she’ll be the perfect spokesperson for our site.” In the banner photo, seen at right, Dominika is wearing sunglasses, an earring (yes, just on one side), a necklace, three rings, a bellybutton ring, two anklets, and a toe ring. “I even put in tinted contacts and was wearing invisiline, because those are totes accessories, too,” Dominika said at the launch party at a Kohl’s store in suburban Toledo.
