monday’s sunday survey

by

What do you think of Jelena Jankovic and Ivan Ljubicic winning at Indian Wells? How does it bode for the rest of their year? Can Jankovic finally win a Major? And will Ljubicic ever re-enter the Top 10? Become a threat again? Tell us what you think.

Both victors wore outfits in the blue/green color palate. Jankovic’s winner’s jacket had details to match her dress.

Jankovic will win a slam … at least one. If Henin falters, I think this win here could give her confidence at the French.

Ljubicic will be a contender for the rest of the season, but I don’t think he’ll be able to get back into the top 10 … I feel like the men’s top 10 is already too crowded. But to his credit he doesn’t have too many points to defend and sadly didn’t get as much as one would’ve thought for winning IW (he reached the QFs last year). In 2009 Ljubicic lost first round at Miami, QFs in Monte Carlo to Nadal (upsetting #5 del Potro on his way), QFs in Madrid to Djokovic (upsetting #9 Tsonga and #7 Simon on his way), and lost R1 at Roland Garros (to Ferrero).

If Jankovic can keep up this level of play, she’s definitely in the running to win a Grand Slam. When her game is on, it’s really fun to watch. She gives great backhand!

Yep, I agree, if JJ plays the way she played the last rounds at Indian Wells, she’s a threat for everyone. Instead of just getting everything back into court, she also played very aggressive – nice game to watch, the new world No. 2 didn’t play badly, but was outplayed at almost every occasion and the way JJ closed it out for 6:4 was surprisingly tough – no nerves at all! well done!
