playing catch-up

September 18, 2010

There was so much to do and take in while we were out in NYC for the US Open. And couple that with our day job, it was really hard to get all the material up and on the blog before the tournament was over (and already there’s Davis Cup stuff to cover!)

So I’ll be putting up a few “flashback” posts that’ll cover the clothes/gear from the year’s final major. In case you’re ready to just look forward, I’ll be marking them in the title so you can just skip over.

I’m off to my friend Robert’s to soak in some sun (poolside!) before summer disappears. In the meantime. I’ll leave you with this fun Levi’s billboard that was up near Lafayette and Houston. There are moving parts!

shirtless + tattoo watch: horacio zeballos

September 18, 2010

Argentine Horacio Zeballos and doubles partner Eduardo Schwank couldn’t overcome the team of Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement at the Davis Cup semifinals in Lyon. Their decisive rubber, which Llodra and Clement won 6-4, 7-5, 6-3, sends France to their first Fed Cup final since 2002. We didn’t include it in our Fila Davis Cup post, but Zeballos wore a country-appropriate white polo with blue and yellow trim. (More: Read up on the tie details here.)

Meanwhile, we caught a little bit of Zeballos’ shirtless practice time on the Sunday before the 2010 US Open. He lost in the first round to Igor Andreev.

Tattoo watch: Looks like he has the Eye of Horus on his right shoulder.

loup’s fall offerings

September 18, 2010

All of Loup‘s fall goods will be showing up on the site by next week, so make sure to give it a look! They’ve added some shades of grey and black along with some fun outerwear, including the Sweatshirt Jacket (left) and the Ruffle Sweatshirt (right). Could Erwin get away with wearing the ruffled one in a large? Hmm…

nice shoes, lleyton

September 18, 2010

Lleyton Hewitt‘s dreams of bagging another Grand Slam might be long gone, but he can still put out a good Davis Cup show. He won the first rubber in this weekend’s World Group play-off against Belgium and also teamed up with Paul Hanley for the doubles win. The Aussies are now up 2-1; up next is Lleyton vs. Olivier Rochus. More info here.

Love that his Yonex shoes coordinated with the rest of his Davis Cup uniform. More pics after the cut…
