sa watch (and guga watch) 2007

April 8, 2007

For at least four times a year (fingers crossed), my life as head of the Guga and Sa Watches 2007 get easier, when both players join up to play doubles for Davis Cup. Here they are, playing against the Canadians:

guga watch 2007

March 27, 2007

Gustavo Kuerten is currently preparing to compete in next month’s Davis Cup. His 2007 ATP record isn’t too hot (his current record is 2-6), and he’s getting beef from naysayers breathing down his back.

Leave him alone and let him play on the tour as long as he wants. He’s enjoying himself, and has used his celebrity into founding a non-profit and starting a clothing line. He’ll quit when he’s ready.

guga in Indian wells

Guga didn’t last too long out in the desert, but he’s sticking around through Key Biscayne. Along with Sebastien Grosjean, Alberto Martin, and Gael Monfils, Guga double-signed into the BMW Tennis Championship in Sunrise, Florida. The arrangement: the above players can play Sunrise if they lost at Indian Wells by yesterday afternoon.

uhm, how cute are those uniforms?

Guga continues his comeback with a wildcard at Indian Wells, The Age reports:

“Guga” was a finalist at Indian Wells in 2003, when he beat Roger Federer in the second round.

That was Federer’s last defeat at Indian Wells, where he has claimed the title the past three years.

Maybe he’ll get a stab at that whale!
