nadal’s ad for lanvin

March 5, 2009

Proving to the world that the he can rock a dress shirt (the blazer is still a work in progress…), Rafa Nadal posed for the Lanvin cologne he’s hawking, L’homme Sport. The scent’ll have hints of lemon, bergamot, sage, and lavender.

It’ll be available in April starting at €65 for a 100ml bottle.

Finishing what they Starter: Earlier this month, NO MAS mastermind Chris Isenberg, the guy who revived Bjorn Borg‘s logo, released his latest collaboration: a limited run of duffel bags created with fashion phenoms Dee and Ricky Jackson (read up). The duo played around with a few of Isenberg’s vintage Starter Jackets, turning them into bags and using the snaps as closures and the trim as the bag’s lining. Isenberg fell in love with the samples and gave over his whole trove of 250 jackets. Each bag will come with a special “Finisher” tag (get it?) and will be hand-signed and numbered by the twins. Buy: Contact NO MAS directly to purchase.

Lanvin’s latest: The man behind Lanvin‘s menswear design, Lucas Ossendrijver, continues to play with traditional lowcut tennis sneakers, following up iterations of satin and suede uppers with this latest nylon version — available in black and grey colorways. Grab yours for an economy-resuscitating $570 at aloharag. (via hypebeast)

Not enough? If Lanvin shoes alone aren’t pimp enough, maybe add some bling?

(OT) A new riot: I love the Hollywood Boulevard store Lallure for a few reasons: first, they’re open ’til 2 am on most days, taking care of my drunk shopping fix; second, they carry some awesome clothes like JOYRICH, Dim Mak, and NIR, which stands for Nu Ideal Riot. This third brand is a Japanese import brought over by Lallure owner Maki Asako that currently focuses on slim-cut outerwear: cardigans, military jackets, hoodies, all with subtle accents like off-center zippers and striped linings. Drop by Lallure or purchase from this e-shop.

maria sharapova launches another canon

September 12, 2008

The dedicated-but-ailing Maria Sharapova appeared at the South Street Seaport on the eve of the U.S. Open to launch a new camera, the PowerShot SD1100 IS, for Canon. In conjunction with this latest model they are giving away five bedazzled one-offs, each encrusted with 88 white diamonds for a total of 2.2 carats per camera. (Enter the sweepstakes.)

Masha wore a crazy “I’m-a-little-teapot” design by Lanvin and was flanked by look-alikes dressed in black and white versions of what would have been the Russian’s Nike outfit — had she not pulled out of the tournament due to injury.

A temporary 50-foot white dome built specifically for the event (event logistics deets here) also housed a Wii loaded with Top Spin 3, a photo station, and a flatscreen that premiered Maria’s latest TV ad for Canon which, of course, starred her beloved Dolce (view).

We had a chance to chat with Masha about the Beijing Olympics and Fashion Week:

On the Olympics: “I was really excited to see Nastia Liukin win because she and I share the same history. She was born in Russia and also came to the U.S. at such a young age.”

On her Fed Cup teammates sweeping the tennis medals: “It’s pretty crazy that three of the four [Russians who were] in the draw were on the podium. It’s so wonderful. I haven’t had a chance to talk to them, but I’m very happy.”

On which shows she’s eyeing for Fashion Week: “I’d love to go to Vera Wang. She’s a good friend of mine. and Peter Som as well.”

On following men’s fashion: “I have a hard time women’s trends as it is. It changes every single week. It’ll take me a while to get that point.”

Domed if you don’t: Speaking of, you should check out the Buckminster Fuller exhibit at The Whitney if you can. It’s on view through September 21.

Sharapova celebrates her 21st in Lanvin

April 23, 2008

Maria Sharapova celebrated her 21st birthday at Tenjune last night with a party thrown by Tag Heuer and attended by her nearest and dearest, which included Michelle Trachtenberg, a compact Dave Annable, Vera Wang, Anna Wintour, Doo.ri, and the duo behind Ruffian. The invitation-only crowd danced to the music of DJ Cassidy What’s up with Tenjune being the favored venue of tennis players to party?

Masha looked good wearing a blue Lanvin dress from the Spring 2008 RTW. She continues to flirt with loose fabric, this time in the form of a mini-train that went down the back of her outfit. It’s the Wimbledon swan dress all over again!

She added a tiara, a vintage clutch, and a pair of black, peep-toe Louboutins to round out the look.

lady in lanvin: maria sharapova attends the 10,000 B.C. premiere

Maria Sharapova attended the premiere for 10,000 B.C. at the Chinese. It still cracks me up that all these photos of dolled-up celebs have the neon lights of Baja Fresh and Coffee Bean in the background. Only in Los Angeles, I guess. (In case you’re curious, the movie is about a prehistoric mammoth hunter trying to secure the future of his tribe. It stars Masha’s gal pal Camilla Bell.)

Thumbs up: Masha walked down the red carpet in a layered Lanvin dress, gold hoop earrings, and two-tone pumps. She looks good considering how much she’s traveled recently. WTB calculated that the jetsetting Russian has flown 48,237 miles in the last two months. Le sigh, we bloggers have too much time on our hands.

at the year-end party, maria shines in thakoon

November 14, 2007

You know Maria Sharapova wasn’t too bummed about being runner-up to Justine Henin at last week’s Year-End Championships in Madrid.

She sat out for almost two months to nurse her ailing shoulder, and in the meantime cleaned out the skeleton in her closet by auctionining off that cursed U.S. Open day dress. The result? A sexy librarian look from Nike and a kick-ass serve that got her a $500,000 check for second-place.

To celebrate after the long match (and a long year), Maria attended the tournament’s players’ party dressed in the metallic orange Thakoon frock and a pair of black t-strap platforms by Lanvin.

What do you think of the outfit? Tell us!
